The FES Watch does not always display the time.
The time is displayed when you press the button.
The design changes every time you press the button.

Display the time

Display method

There are two ways to display the time.

  1. Press the button
  2. Use Watch Action
    Lift up your wrist to look at your watch. Or turn your wrist to look at your watch.

<Tips>

  • The time is displayed when the watch face moves from right-angles to the ground to parallel to the ground.
  • The watch is shipped with Watch Action turned off.
  • The time disappears after a certain time.

Switching Watch Action on and off

Hold the button down for eight seconds, releasing it after the centre mark flashes three times.
Releasing the button while the time is shown turns Watch Action on, and releasing the button while the time is not shown turns Watch Action off.

Telling the time

Hours are shown as numbers and minutes are shown by a minute hand.

Display prevents time from being misread

When the time is between 55 and 59 minutes past the hour, the time display flashes as shown here to prevent the time being misread.

* Low battery warning *

A triple minute hand is displayed when the battery is running low.

The time is displayed as usual, but is not updated.
Pressing the button updates the display to the current time.
When the battery runs out, Low battery warning disappears.

You cannot replace the battery yourself, please contact our Repair Service .

Changing the design for the time display

There are 24 time display designs. The design changes every time you press the button.

The design changes from the upper left to the right.

Changing the watch design

There are three watch designs used when the time is not displayed.
White / Black / Pattern.

The time display design is also used as the watch design when the time is not displayed.
The design can be extended along the band.

Hold the button down for two seconds, releasing it after the centre mark flashes once. The design changes each time you do this.

Setting the time

  1. Hold the button down for five seconds, releasing it after the centre mark flashes twice. The watch face and band will turn white, and the time display will flash.
  2. Press the button repeatedly to set the hour.
  3. Hold the button down for two seconds, releasing it after the centre mark flashes once. The minute hand will flash.
  4. Press the button repeatedly to set the minutes.
  5. Hold the button down for two seconds, releasing it after the centre mark flashes once. The watch will go back to not displaying the time.

The watch will start from 0 seconds after the time is set.
If no inputs are made for one minute, the operation is cancelled and the watch reverts to the time before the operation started.

Adjusting the band length

  1. Open the buckle, and lift the clasp off the outside of the band and then away from the inside of the band.
  2. Move the buckle.
  3. Align the clasp with one of the holes on the underside of the band, push the clasp into place on the inside of the band, and then push the clasp onto the outside of the band.

Handling Precautions

e-paper
  • The face and band of this watch are made of e-paper.
  • E-paper has a slower switching speed than LCD panels.
  • Display switching is even slower when the watch is used at low temperatures. This is not a malfunction.
  • Please wait until switching is complete before operating the watch.
  • After-images may remain on the display when the design is changed. This is not a malfunction.
  • White and black are reversed on the display after setting the time or changing designs. This is not a malfunction.
  • Do not press the e-paper forcefully with your finger or pointed objects such as fingernails, ballpoint pens or pins.
Handling the band
  • Do not bend the band further than the angle required for wearing on the wrist. Do not twist, stretch or press the band.
Shock
  • Do not subject the watch to shock, for example dropping or hitting it. When not wearing the watch, for example putting it in a bag, protect it by storing it in the box it came in.
Static electricity
  • Do not expose the watch to static electricity.
Magnetic fields
  • The watch may gain or lose time if exposed to a magnetic field (such as near a magnet). Magnetic fields can also cause damage, so store and use the watch as far from magnetic fields as possible.
Temperature
  • Your watch will operate normally between +5℃ - +35℃.
  • Do not use or store your watch in places subject to extreme heat or inside a vehicle in summer with the windows closed, or in places with high temperature and humidity such as saunas.
Ultraviolet light
  • Please do not leave your watch in places subject to ultraviolet light, such as direct sunlight, for long periods of time. The watch may discolour.
Battery replacement
  • A triple minute hand is displayed as a low battery warning. Do not replace the battery yourself. Please contact Repair Services .
Water resistance
  • This watch was designed with water-resistance in mind, but do not wear it while swimming or bathing, or during activities where there is direct contact with water.
Care
  • Wipe dirt, sweat, water, oil etc. off promptly with a soft absorbent cloth.
  • Do not use chemicals such as paint thinner, benzene, alcohol, chemical cleaning cloths, insect repellent, insecticide or sunscreens.

Q, Can I charge my watch with an AC adaptor or external battery?

A, No. The watch uses a button-type battery which cannot be charged.

Q, What type of battery is the internal battery?

A, The watch uses one CR2016 button cell battery.
To keep the watch airtight, do not replace the battery yourself. Please contact Repair Services .

Q, Can I connect my watch to a smart phone?

A, The watch cannot connect to other devices such as smart phones.

Q, How long does the battery last if Watch Action is used?

A, Battery life varies according to the number of times the time is displayed, so it depends on how you use the watch.
These are the reference values for number of time displays and battery life.(*)
* Assuming that the design is changed once per day

Q, Does power consumption change depending on the band design?

A, There is no significant difference in power consumption between solid and patterned designs.

Q, How do I change the battery?

A, Do not replace the battery yourself. Please contact Repair Services .
A triple minute hand is the low battery warning.

Q, How do I change the band?

A, The watch face and band are made as a single unit. The band cannot be replaced on its own.

Q, What wrist sizes does the FES Watch fit?

A, The FES Watch fits wrist sizes between 135 mm―185 mm.
* This may vary when the watch is actually worn.

Q, What do I do if the buckle breaks?

A, The buckle can be repaired. Please contact Repair Services .

Q, Where is the guarantee?

A, It is inside the packaging.
The guarantee and User Manual are along the sides of the box.

Q, How long does the watch face last?

A, The lifetime depends on how the watch is used, so there is no fixed answer.

Q, Is the watch waterproof?

A, The watch is water-resistant.

Q, Will you add more changeable designs?

A, We have no plans to add more designs.

Q, I bent my watch. It still displays, but is it all right to keep on using it?

A, We recommend having the watch inspected so that you can use it with peace of mind.

Q, Does the band become stiff in cold weather?

A, The band will become stiff in low-temperature environments.
If wearing the watch in a low-temperature environment, please use it in the operating temperature range of +5℃ - +35℃.

Q, Is the watch radio-controlled?

A, No.
To set the time, please see the Setting the time section of the manual.

Q, How often I change the battery? How do I know when to change the battery?

A, The triple minute hand display indicates that it is time to change the battery.
In order to preserve airtightness, not replace the battery yourself. Please contact Repair Services .

Q, The surface has a scratch. Can I remove it with rubbing compound?

Do not use rubbing compound, as it might put more scratches on the watch.

Q, Is there a surface coating?

A, The surface is coated with PET plastic.

Q, How do I care for my watch? (Can I wash it with water?)

A, Wipe dirt, sweat, water, oil etc. off promptly with a soft absorbent cloth.
Do not wash the watch directly with water.
Also, do not use chemicals such as paint thinner, benzene, alcohol, chemical cleaning cloths, insect repellent, insecticide or sunscreens.

Q, How do I store the watch if I will not use it for a long time?

A, Please store it in the box it came in.
The watch cannot be turned off entirely. It will consume some power while stored.

Q, Can the watch be turned completely off?

A, A, No, it cannot.

Q, I have sensitive skin. Is the watch hypoallergenic?

A, The watch is made from the following materials. Please check the list before wearing the watch.

  • The case is made of polycarbonate
  • The band is made of polyurethane elastomer
  • The buckle is made of stainless steel

Operation and display

Q, How do I set the time?

A, Please see the Setting the time section in the manual.

Q, The time display turns off. Is there any way to make the it display all the time?

A, The FES Watch does not always display the time.
It is designed to show the time when the button is pushed.
The watch stops displaying the time after four seconds, and cannot be made to show the time constantly.

Q, What do I do if Watch Action does not display the time?

A, Watch Action might be turned off.
Watch Action can be switched on and off.

Hold the button down for eight seconds, releasing it after the centre mark on the watch face flashes three times.
See the Switching the Watch Action function on and off section of the manual.

Try Watch Action again to see if the time is displayed.

<Tips>
If the time is displayed momentarily when you hold the button down for eight seconds and then release it, this indicates that Watch Action is on.
If the time is not displayed, this indicates that Watch Action is off.

■ If the time is not displayed even when Watch Action is on

Try lifting your wrist up and looking at your watch, and try turning your wrist.

<Tips>
Be careful of the orientation of the watch face when you lift your wrist up and look at it.
The time is displayed when the watch face is parallel to the ground.
It will not display if the watch face is turned diagonally facing the body.
When you turn your wrist, stop turning when the watch face is parallel to the ground.
As well as the orientation of the watch face, be careful of the direction your wrist is turning, and the speed. The time will not display if you turn your wrist too abruptly.

Q, The display doesn't change even when I press the button. What should I do?

A, Reset your watch, and see if that fixes the problem.
* The watch keeps the time even if reset.

<How to reset the watch>
  1. Hold the button down for 20 seconds.
  2. Release the button after the entire watch face flashes.
The watch is reset.

Q, The design keeps changing. Is there any way to stop it changing?

A, Reset your watch, and see if that fixes the problem.

Q, Sometimes white and black are reversed on the watch face and band. Can I stop this happening?

A, White and black are reversed on the display after setting the time or changing designs. This is normal.

Q, After-images are sometimes left on the display when the design is changed. Is this a defect?

A, After-images sometimes remain due to characteristic features of e-paper. This is normal.

Q, The design extends to the band. Can I remove it?

A, Please see the Changing the watch design section in the manual to change to your preferred setting.

Q, Can I turn Watch Action off?

A, Please see the Switching Watch Action on and off section of the manual to change the setting.

Q, The design takes a long time to change. Can I set it to change faster?

A, The e-paper used for the watch face and band has slower display switching speed than LCD panels, so design changes may feel a little slow.
If the temperature is lower end of the operating temperature range, switching will be even slower.

Q, The hour display flashes from around 55 minutes past the hour. Is this a malfunction?

A, No, this is to prevent the time being misread.
When the time is between 55 and 59 minutes past the hour, the time display flashes to prevent the time being misread.
Please see the Telling the time section of the manual.

Q, The display shows three minute hands. Is this a malfunction?

A, The triple minute hand display is the low battery warning.
We recommend replacing the battery promptly after the warning is displayed.
To keep the watch airtight, do not replace the battery yourself. Please contact Repair Services .
